Yes. Check the product page and the label on the strap for that model’s Working Load Limit (WLL) and breaking strength. Use the WLL when choosing a strap. Breaking strength is not the allowable load.

It depends on the exact model. Our current 25mm and 50mm ranges have different ratings, and length or hardware can also change the specification. Always use the WLL shown on the product you are buying.

Start with the load, the anchor points and the product’s WLL. The 25mm range is generally suited to everyday gear such as camping equipment, kayaks and motorcycles. The 50mm range is designed for larger loads and more demanding transport jobs.

Use a model whose WLL and hardware suit the actual load. Our 50mm Heavy Duty range is made for more demanding jobs, but strap width alone is not enough to make the decision. Check the full rating before use.

The webbing retracts into the housing, which takes up loose strap and makes setup and storage tidier. You still need to tension the ratchet correctly and follow the same load-securing checks before travelling.

On selected SafeRetract models, the webbing returns in a more controlled way rather than snapping back quickly. That makes the strap easier to handle around your hands, vehicle and cargo.

Let wet straps dry, then keep them somewhere clean and dry. Inspect the webbing, stitching, hooks and mechanism before the next job. Many packs include a storage bag, so check the product listing for the exact contents.

The range is designed for outdoor use, but salt, sand and grime still need attention. Rinse off contamination where appropriate, let the strap dry and check the mechanism and webbing before storage. Never use a strap that is damaged or not operating correctly.

Measure the route between your anchor points with the load in place, leaving enough length to connect and tension the strap correctly. Do not choose on length alone: confirm the WLL, hook style and anchor points too.

Stop and check for dirt, grit, twisted webbing or visible damage. Clean and dry the unit in line with the product instructions. If it still does not operate smoothly, do not force it or use it to secure a load. Contact Tiger Australia for advice.
